Lia Laterza, Acupuncturist
Lia Laterza brings a rare combination of medical training and whole-person care to her role as acupuncturist at Muskego Health and Wellness Center. With a background that spans hospital-based diagnostics and advanced study in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, she approaches every patient with genuine curiosity, deep listening, and a calm, welcoming presence.
A Desire to Help You Heal
Before coming to acupuncture, Lia spent years working in hospital settings as a vascular ultrasound technologist, collaborating with physicians and specialists across the ICU, ER, and OR.
That experience gave her a strong medical foundation, but it also showed her something she couldn’t ignore: patients with real, lived symptoms were sometimes dismissed when their concerns didn’t show up clearly on imaging. She wanted to do more than identify problems; she wanted to help people actually heal.
That conviction drew her toward a more holistic model of care. Lia went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Vascular Ultrasound from Rush University in Chicago, then a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine along with a Bachelor’s in Nutrition from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine.
She loves acupuncture because it gives her the opportunity to combine her clinical background with a compassionate, whole-body approach.
Training and Expertise
Lia has completed advanced training in Cosmetic Acupuncture with Michelle Gellis and is currently pursuing certifications in Orthopedic and Sports Acupuncture. She also continues her studies in functional medicine, with a focus on hormone health and fertility.
Lia’s work at Muskego Health and Wellness Center centers on helping patients understand how acupuncture communicates with the brain, supports the nervous system, and activates the body’s own healing processes.

Outside the Office
When she’s not in the office, you might find Lia out for brunch (her favorite meal!) with the family, exploring a new travel destination, or moving through a yoga flow. She also enjoys walking, dancing, reading, and continuing to study the ever-evolving world of functional medicine.
Lia and her husband, Dr. Mike, share three sons and a seven-year-old golden retriever named Hooch, who has rightfully claimed the title of practice mascot.
